NEW DAY welcomes fourth site
NEW DAY is excited to welcome Rev. Molly Hayes and the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist as our newest partner in the distribution of food to hungry Arlington ISD and summer program students. Volunteers are already busy filling and distributing sacks of food to participating schools. Their enthusiasm is clear in the short video they just produced!
WIP provides remaining $20,000 grant
Women Inspiring Philanthropy (WIP), a leading Arlington philanthropic group, again provided a very generous grant to NEW DAY to support expansion of our mission in 2021. The $20,000 received in December allowed NEW DAY to welcome the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist as a fourth food packing and delivery site. Arlington women are making a difference! Thank You.

NEW DAY of Arlington efforts to help feed hungry kids in our community received a significant boost from Atmos Energy Corp. The Dallas-based natural gas supplier recently made a $30,000 grant to support the work of NEW DAY.
“We are committed to helping students have a bright and healthy future by fighting childhood hunger through our Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities initiative,” said Kelly Biegler, Atmos Energy Mid-Tex Division Public Affairs Manager. “No child should go to bed hungry, and we are grateful to our local nonprofit and school district partners like NEW DAY and Arlington ISD for ensuring that children have regular access to healthy snacks and meals.”
“NEW DAY is extremely grateful for this generous contribution from Atmos Energy to support our vital mission of providing supplemental food supplies to students in Arlington schools,” said Martha Kinard, President of NEW DAY.
“There are many families in Arlington where hunger is an ongoing concern, a situation exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic and economic downturn. Students receive meals at schools during the week, but there may be little food at home on weekends, a need that NEW DAY addresses with bags of nutritious, easy-to-prepare food and snacks.”
NEW DAY is continuing its years-long effort to provide supplemental food to AISD students despite the uncertainty and class schedule disruptions that have complicated the efforts of Arlington schools.
NEW DAY volunteers, working with school counselors, have been delivering hundreds of bags of food weekly for students attending schools in person and students that are attending class virtually.
Recently, NEW DAY has significantly increased the amount of food provided in each student’s bad. The NEW DAY board approved the additional food distribution and the expenses involved for purchasing of food supplies. That action was enabled by generous community donations.

Women Inspiring Philanthropy (WIP), a leading Arlington philanthropic group, has made a $50,000 grant to NEW DAY of Arlington to support its efforts to provide supplemental food to students in the Arlington Independent School District.
“This is an extraordinary and generous commitment by Women Inspiring Philanthropy that will enable New Day to expand its important programs that provide supplemental food to students in the Arlington ISD and summer programs,” said Michael McCoy, Vice-President of the NEW DAY board of directors.
Women Inspiring Philanthropy is a non-profit group of women seeking to transform lives in the Arlington area through philanthropy. Each member gives at least annually, which is then matched with donations by the local nonprofit organization.
Linda Dipert of Women Inspiring Philanthropy said, “WIP’s mission is to make change happen, but unprecedented times require you to pivot and reevaluate. During these days of uncertainty, feeding our children rises to the top of importance. We thank New Day for their passion, their heart, and their love for our children.”
